Asellus, a former human girl, was run over by a carriage while on an errand for her aunt. On the brink of death, the Mystic Lord Orlouge saves her life by giving her his own blood. After being unconscious for days, she awoken in a mysterious castle, finding herself trapped in a coffin. Asellus tries to explore and discover who she really is and on the way discovers that she is half mystic! When she studies her new found roots, she discovers that the Mystics follow a magical man called Orlouge. Chosen as the Charm Lord's heir, she is despised by human and mystic alike and her mere existence is constantly put to question as people protest her mixed blood. After escaping the castle, with the help from a woman named Princess White Rose, the two are on the run from Orlouge's many followers, putting them in constant danger. However, after another person gives their life for Asellus', the young heroine returns to defeat Orlouge, ending the struggle once and for all.
